May. 24th, 2011 @ 04:37 pm As Patrick Stewart said, "Engage!"
A bit of a delay on this. I have sadly neglected my blog, since next to no-one is probably following it and most important stuff is now going on Facebook. Anyway, Tom proposed on day 1 of our 2-week vacation to Hong Kong and Thailand, on a boardwalk overlooking Hong Kong harbour, near the Bruce Lee statue. It was surprisingly emotional (we had talked about it already, and I figured something was in the works, eventually). Anyway, now we have a wedding to plan. I'm very happy and excited!

Nov. 23rd, 2010 @ 06:54 pm Floorplans: moving
I've been taking an interior design course, and a floorplan was one project. It took longer than expected.

This is the current arrangement (minus a fair bit of moving furniture around to make space for boxes.) Approx. 640 sq. ft.

This is an approximate estimation of the new setup, 920 sq. ft. We haven't decided what goes where yet. The 2nd bedroom will be home office/storage.

Oct. 13th, 2010 @ 10:59 pm Apartment
Filling in application forms and getting money orders tomorrow, for a 2-bedroom apartment to move in with Tom. My move date: Dec. 11. His move date: shortly thereafter.
I'm very excited.

Oct. 3rd, 2010 @ 11:27 pm Upcoming move
Plans are underway to move in together with Tom. I have given notice for Dec. 15th, which brings a minor sense of, well, a deadline to find somewhere to live. I'm looking forward to it.

This time I'm going to use movers; there's no way I can ask my brothers to move a heavy dresser, full couch and massive queen-size bed on top of the usual bookcases, desks and boxes. Beds have gotten huge in the last 10 years.

I am happily perusing viewit.ca listings and flipping through the ikea catalogue. I'm looking forward to implementing some ideas from an interior design course I'm taking. We've seen one place already that is quite reasonable, and will do as a backup in case we don't find anything else we like.

My parents have taken the idea quite well, considering their generally traditional view on such arrangements.

Aug. 1st, 2010 @ 10:38 am Vodka Martini Scale Part IV

Another dinner with dad, this time I was feeling tired of the Hungarian restaurant, so we took a chance on Honey's Beestro on Avenue road.

Dad gave it an impressive Vodka Martini Rating of 8/10. I'm sure it helped that the waitress came back twice to clarify the order; first to ask which of 4 vodkas he would like, then to ask if he wanted it shaken or stirred. Afterwards, he went to give his compliments to the bartender, and traded a few James Bond jokes.

Jul. 25th, 2010 @ 10:29 pm Lattice installed
Current Mood: accomplishedaccomplished
Current Music: the gentle whoosh of my happy little dishwasher

At Laurence and Amy's house, as part of their gardening party. The clematis strings were detached, laid flat, lattice cut and installed, and then the clematis was strung back up. I quite like untangling clematis vines. Excuse the hand in the picture, it was raining and I was trying to shield the lens.
